Belshina is Belarus's best performing company

Oil refineries in Belarus lost their top position among the country's best-perorming enterprises in 2007, reports the web-based newspaper naviny.by According to Ministry of Finance's securities department, the tyre-maker Belshina reported the highest net profit of Br216.38 billion in 2007. Naftan refinery was the second with the profit of Br153.489 billion, and Hrodna Azot was the third with the net profit of Br115.331 billion. The Mazyr-based oil refinery finished the fourth with "only" Br96.342 billion.

Experts say Russia's oil export duties, introduced on January 1, 2007, lowered the attractiveness of crude deliveries to Belarus in the eyes of Russian oil companies. The measure respectively affected the profits of Belarusian refineries.
