Belarusian soldier from Right Sector sentenced to 4 years in Ukraine

On June 22, Kiev Obolon district court sentenced five members of the organization Right Sector to jail. Among the defendants was also a Belarusian citizen Dzmitry Liskovich, nn.by reports.

The men were convicted of kidnapping and beating a person. But the defense lawyer suggested a different version of events. Allegedly, in May 2014 a woman came to the Right Sector headquarters asking to protect her home from raider attacks. Representatives of the Right Sector helped her. Later, the man from whom they were supposed to protect housing, sued the guys.

The court sentenced all the men to four years of imprisonment. Besides the Belarusian Liskovich, among prisoners was a Russian citizen Mikhail Strelkin came to Ukraine a year and a half before to support Maidan. Also sentenced were three Ukrainians - Alexander Polugorbatov, Andrei Demchenko and Andrei Pipenko.

According to friends of the convicted men, the woman that they propected, kept her apartment. She came to the trial and cried after the verdict. The victim did not appear at the trial, since he now lives abroad.
