Belarus trains to speed up to 160 km/h
The Belarusian passenger trains are soon to start speeding up to 140 km per hour on the Brest-Moscow railway route, Uladzimir Zarela, the chief of the Belarus Railways today announced in Gomel. He said the trains could move with the speed of 140 km/h from Brest to the Russian border and could even speed up to 160 km/h on large route stretches like Brest-Baranavicy.
New electricity-power engines are going to be used for that. They are no being tested and are soon to be put in service. Currently, the speed of passenger trains on the Brest-Moscow route does not exceed 120 km/h, reports BELTA.
