Belarus reports 702 new HIV cases since early this year

702 news HIV cases have been detected in Belarus since the beginning of the year, making it a total of 8449 registered cases as of October 1, 2007, the National Center for Public Health said in a press release.
21 cases were found among young people aged between 15-19; 449 (64 percent) contracted the virus through a sexual intercourse.

61..1 percent of the total number were infected through IV drug injections, reports Belapan.
