Belarus nationals seek help from Russian embassy in Lebanon

The Belarusian foreign ministry said it was monitoring the situation in Beirut and was in close contact with Russia's and Ukraine's embassies in Lebanon. Belapan news agency quotes a duty officer at the Belarusian foreign ministry as saying that no information about the Belarus nationals wishing to leave have come in. He added that Belarus has no embassy in Beirut, with its closest diplomatic mission based in Syria.

But the Russian embassy in Lebanon said that at least two Belarus nationals had approached them for consular suuport.

Meanwhile, Aeroflot has announced plans to evacuate the citizens of Russia from Beirut to Damascus and to Moscow. The flight, scheduled for Monday, will carry up to 180 passengers. The Russian diplomats woud not confirm 100 percent that the flight could take off.
