Belarus government seeks to ease licensing for entrepreneurs

The government has been in the final-touches stage to develop a draft president's decree to facilitate licensing for certain types of entrepreneurship, Aliaksandr Likhacheuski, the director of the department for entrepreneurship at the Economy Ministry, told reporters.

53 entrepreneurship activities are currently licensed in Belarus, with 218,000 licenses. "If the president supports the draft, we believe that it will allow us to reduce the total number of the licensed activities by 8-9", the economy ministry official said.
The decree draft envisages shorter licensing terms. "Applications will be processed within 15 days instead of 30 days currently", Likhacheuski said.

In addition, licenses for fish and seafood processing will be abolished from January 1, 2012, reports Belapan
