The war film Defiance about the Bielski partisans, a group led by Jewish brothers during the Nazi occupation in Navahrudak District was shown in Minsk on July 11. Belarusian Minister for Foreign Affairs Uladzimir Makei and Aron Bielski (the youngest of the brothers) who arrived in Belarus a few days ago have attended the event.
Jews were not only victims in World War II, but they were also heroes who were struggling with the invaders, the MFA press service quotes Minister Makei as saying.
