Andrei Sannikau’s election team members give press conference in Warsaw

Two representatives of the presidential candidate, Zmitser Barodka and Andrei Babitski, Yuliya Bandarenka (daughter of coordinator of “Charter’97” Zmitser Bandarenka) and the first leader of the independent Belarus Stanislau Shushkevich took part in it. The current moderator of the website “Charter’97” Fyodar Paulichenka also took part in the press conference. The aim of the meeting was to draw the attention of Polish citizens to the events that took place in Belarus on December 19. Shushkevich thanked Poles for their support of democratic Belarus and for the cancellation of national visa fees.

Participants of the press conference urged Poland to help Belarusians suffering from repressions. First of all, they need financial assistance and a special account has been opened for it. Furthermore, it is planned to help find flats for the Belarusians who will emigrate due to repressions at home.

Sannikau’s bodyguard Leanid Navitski was one of the participants of the press conference. He had left Belarus because of repressions. He said that he had served his term of detention in Akrestsina and had been informed that he was a suspect in “the Case of December 19” on the last day of the arrest.
