Ambassador Dzmitry Mironchyk has been recalled from Sweden to Belarus. The Swedish charge d'affaires in our country was also recalled to Stockholm for consultations. The diplomatic scandal, which broke out after the Swedish Foreign Ministry appointed Christina Johannesson as diplomatic representative to the Belarusian democratic forces, reports Radio Liberty.

According to the press service of the Swedish Foreign Ministry, work at the embassy in Minsk continues as usual.

The information about appointment of Johannesson, who was previously ambassador to Belarus, emerged in November 2023. Her appointment was announced by Swedish Foreign Minister Tobias Billström at a joint briefing with Sviatlana Tsikhanouska in Vilnius. Aliaksandr Lukashenka's regime was also angered by Billström's words about Tsikhanouska's victory in the presidential elections in 2020.

Christina Johannesson saw her immediate tasks as dealing with the problems of Belarusians living in Sweden and informing Swedes about the situation in Belarus.
