Alyaksei Marachkіn: Arrested picture “Our dolls” may be destroyed
The legendary picture by Ales Marachkin “Our dolls” may be destroyed. The author informed ERB about it.
Let us remind you that special police officers rushed into the artist’s studio on the eve of the Day of Freedom. They took away the picture “Our dolls” and transparencies prepared for the street actions. Marachkin spent 5 days behind bars.
The picture was painted in the style of the Belarusian national puppet-show in 1997. It depicted a group of representatives of the Belarusian government many of whom could be recognized. Ales Marachkin was summoned to Minsk Central District police office yesterday.
This is what he said in an interview with ERB:
"They are trying to present it as an insult of the President. Wait! Are cartoons and drawings that were published earlier a real insult?! Should we depict the leader with a halo over his head?”
Moreover, policemen are preparing an expertise of such mottos as “Live Belarus”, “The Belarusian language is our weapon”, “Let’s be Belarusians” and of the picture itself. The future of the arrested “Our dolls” is still vague.”

"They seem to be threatening me. They say that the works and the picture will be destroyed after the trial”.
