Two more well-known IT companies leave Belarus

IT companies Gurtam and Akveo are closing their offices in Belarus, writes dev.by. The decision to liquidate the companies was made by their owners.

Gurtam will officially liquidate the company in Belarus on February 28, while Akveo - on January 9.

According to dev.by, Akveo employees were offered to relocate or leave at the end of 2022.

IT company Gurtam was founded in 2002 by Aliaksey and Uladzimir Shchurko. The company created the Wialon platform for satellite monitoring and the Internet of Things, as well as the flespi platform for accelerated development of geolocation solutions. More than 3.5 million vehicles and other facilites in more than 150 countries around the world are connected to Wialon.

Gurtam software is used by hundreds of thousands of companies around the world. The company has offices in five countries: Lithuania, Georgia, UAE, Argentina and USA. The company employs approximately 300 people. Previously, the main team worked in Belarus, now most of them work in Lithuania. One of the leaders of the campaign came under repression during the 2020 protests.

After the beginning of large-scale aggression of Russia in February 2022, Gurtam gave Ukrainian companies free access to cloud services for more than six months. In March, the company stopped selling its products in Russia, and in December it closed its Russian office.

Akveo was founded in 2015 by Kanstantsin Danouski and Uladzimir Luhouski. Akveo develops its own software products for web and mobile solutions (ngx-admin, Kitten Tricks, and others). Its software is used in the automotive, tourism, banking, medical, telecommunications, and education industries.

The company has offices in Denver, Vilnius and Warsaw. Akveo employs about 100 people, most of whom were previously based in Minsk, and now in Lithuania and Poland.

In recent years, such large IT companies as Wargaming, One Soil, Flo, Targetprocess, Fibery, Vochi, Wannaby, Playgendary, Verv have left the Belarusian market.
