Tsikhanouskaya awarded Tipperary Peace Award in Ireland

Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has been awarded the Tipperary Peace Award in Ireland. It was announced in early March that she had been awarded the prize. Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, South African President Nelson Mandela and US President Bill Clinton have all received the prize at different times.
"Let this prize be a symbol of hope and solidarity in our struggle for freedom," Tsikhanouskaya said. She added that she accepted the award on behalf of all Belarusians.
Tipperary is the region of Ireland where Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya had been coming since she was 12 years old for summer exchange programs for children affected by the Chernobyl disaster.
