Second death in Army in one week: Soldier found hanging near Hrodna

One more soldier has been found hanging in the course of one week. The press office of the Defense Ministry reports the body of a private born in 1991 was found on 8 September at around 1800 in the woods near Hrodna, western Belarus.

The man had served for 16 months in a Hrodna guarrison unit before he left his station without authorization on 5 September and was declared missing since then.

According to the Defense Ministry, the cause of the death "is purely of personal nature, proved by a suicide note found on the body."

The Investigation Committee and an ad hoc commission of the Defense Ministry are conducting an inquiry into this death.

In another development, private Aliaksandr Arlou from Unit 33933 at the Slomin guarrison was found hanging on 5 September. He had slightly more than six months left till the end of his military service term.
