Prevention centers for injecting drug users throughout Belarus have been left without disposable medical supplies. According to the table published on social networks by the public association “Positive Movement”, there are no syringes, alcohol wipes, condoms and rapid tests in 18 prevention points.

In 2019, Belarus received a grant from the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria to finance harm reduction programs. However, registration of the grant was delayed for almost four months, and public organizations that are engaged in HIV prevention had to work in emergency mode.

On March 19, a grant to curb HIV and tuberculosis was registered, but as the Positive Movement informs, the problem has not been solved, and the situation is even getting worse. This may lead to new HIV infections among injecting drug users.
