St. Simon and Alena Cathedral (also known as the Red Church) has been forbidden to ring the bells. The decision has been made by Minsk City Executive Committee, canon Uladzislau Zavalnyuk told krynica.info.

Officials explained that the bell ringing disturbed local inhabitants. “Many Minsk Orthodox and Catholic churches can ring the bells and nobody has forbidden it yet. At the same time, our 100-year cathedral cannot ring the bells anymore,” the priest is surprised.

By the way, there are very few apartment houses in the vicinity of the Red Catholic Church. There are mostly administrative buildings nearby.
