A military unit of Belarusian volunteers within the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be formed by spring, said on Monday at a meeting in Warsaw Valery Sakhashchyk, a representative for defense and national security of the United Transitional Cabinet of Belarus and head of the National Security Department.

"Such a unit exists. It's being manned right now," Sakhashchyk said. "By the end of February, it will finish manning and training and start carrying out combat assignments. There are quite a few people in it. There are Belarusian officers. Obviously, the commander of the unit is a Ukrainian officer. The management of the unit is all Ukrainian, as according to Ukrainian legislation, there can be no other way. We initiated the amendments to the legislation to allow Belarusian officers to hold officer positions in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But I don't know when there will be a result and whether there will be one. The question is not that simple."

Sakhashchyk said in early December 2022 that a new military unit of Belarusian volunteers had been created in Ukraine. According to him, it will receive modern weapons.
