International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has no plans to move this year's World Championship to Belarus, the Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus says.

The IIHF has received numerous inquiries from media about the possible postponement or cancellation of the World Cup tournament. The reason was the statement by the IIHF chairman, René Fasel, who said one day earlier that Belarus was being considered as a Plan B of moving the World Cup this year.

BHF has appealed for clarification directly to the IIHF office. IIHF spokesman Adam Stace said that the option of moving the tournament in Belarus in 2020 was not considered. Switzerland is planned to host the 2020 World Cup.

Belarus' capital Minsk and Latvia's capital Riga will host the World Ice Hockey Championship in 2021.
