Belarus has received 10 000 ha of land for agricultural production in Zimbabwe. The agro-industrial holding run by the Office of Belarus President will begin large-scale production of meat and dairy products, reports Belarus Segodnya. Experts from Belarus are now in the African country to select the plots of land, test the soil and identity the type of fertilizers needed. They are also studying the matters of irrigation and logistics and are yet to decide how to transport agricultural machines and equipment from Belarus to Zimbabwe.

Belarusians reportedly plan to grow maize and soya first and rice and wheat later. They also plan to build a dairy farm for 1000 cows by the end of this year. Cattle will be partially brought from New Zealand. Simultaneously, a meat and milk processing line will be launched. Belarus is also interested in mining gold and litium in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa visited Belarus in January 2019. He invited Belarus President Aliaksandr Lukashenka to pay a visit to his country.
