Tennis: Aryna Sabalenka becomes World No.9

Aryna Sabalenka has become World No.9 for the first time in her career. The 20-year-old Belarusian tennis player’s previous best result was the 10th position in the world rankings. Sabalenka made it to the semifinals in Saint Petersburg last week. It has allowed her to go up in the rankings.

The WTA rankings were updated on Monday, February 4. Naomi Osaka of Japan is still the World No.1. Belarusian Aliaksandra Sasnovich is in the 33rd position, Victoria Azarenka has gone up by 3 positions – to the 48th place. Vera Lapko has also gone up by 3 positions – she is the World No.60 now.
